الرواية الحديثة - The Modern Novel

This course looks at the modern novel, as it emerges in the 19th century as the most important literary genre in English literature. The course will look briefly at social and historical developments that helped the spread of the novel as a literary form and will take a closer look at one or two examples from the genre. Aspects of modern fiction that deal with the fragmentation of the moral and spiritual values and its effect on the form and the content of the novel will be stressed.
